CDF-Ohio > CDF-Ohio's Young Advocate Leadership Training (YALT®) Program

CDF-Ohio's Young Advocate Leadership Training (YALT®) Program

YALTCDF's vision is to develop the next generation of leaders who are committed to social justice and improving the lives of all children in America. To help achieve this goal, one of the many programs that CDF offers is the Young Advocate Leadership Training (YALT) program.

The YALT programs include:

  • Targeted training sessions on developing organizing and advocacy skills;
  • Facilitated action plan development that will assist you in determining how you can improve the lives of children in Ohio, on your campus and in your community;
  • Dynamic and interactive workshops focused on developing skills in targeted areas and using best practices to engage elected officials and build the public will needed to improve the lives of children.

CDF-OH's November 2009 YALT Program

Note: This YALT program event has been postponed until next year.

On November 7, CDF-Ohio, in partnership with Central State University Institute of Urban Education, will host its first annual Young Advocate Leadership Training (YALT) program. This training program will bring together more than 100 community organizers, child advocates and activists from college campuses throughout Ohio. Each program participant will learn new advocacy skills, models and strategies that can be implemented in their communities and on their college campuses. Students will learn how to advocate for children, strengthen families, and have the opportunity to connect with other student leaders from across the state.

Applications are now being accepted! Apply today—the application deadline is October 16, 2009.

For more information, or to help spread the word on your campus, please email Sonja Shute at sshute@cdfohio.org or call (614) 221-2244.
