MN KIDS COUNT Coffees Begin in May

Each year, Children's Defense Fund Minnesota sponsors a series of community forums around the state called KIDS COUNT Coffees. This year's forums, which begin in May and run through June, allow people in local communities to learn how well children in their area are faring based on a variety of recent indicators, including health, education, and economic security. Participants get a copy of the newly-released KIDS COUNT data book, which has a county-by-county break down of how children are doing across Minnesota. Armed with this information participants can share this information with decision-makers and the media. In the past four years, almost 70 Coffees have been held throughout the state, reaching over 1,500 people.

Participants in the Coffees also will hear how children and families are faring at the State Legislature, as well as learn about CDF's other advocacy, research and outreach activities. All events are free and open to the public.
