You are cordially invited to join Children’s Defense Fund Texas Executive Director Patrick Bresette and the entire CDF Texas staff on May 22 for the 19th Annual Beat the Odds Awards Luncheon at the Royal Sonesta Hotel - Houston Galleria. The annual awards program celebrates the resilience and courage of five local high school seniors who have beaten the odds, demonstrating leadership both inside and outside of the classroom. We will also honor Champions for Children Israel “Izzy” Gomez, Jr., and his wife Martha Martinez Gomez for their valiant efforts to change the odds for low-income children and seniors through their nonproft organization Navidad en el Barrio, established in 1987.
